Today is Flag Day in the US. Many nations have their own Flag Day to celebrate the adoption of their national Flag. Old Glory was adopted by Second Continental Congress on June 14, 1777 (see Wikipedia for more). So, of course I had to shoot some shots of the National Ensign. 🙂
Today also happened to be a great day for clouds. There were many puffy cumulus clouds floating around the sky. My goal was to shoot them above the city of Hartford, but by the time I got there, they were not really around. Or maybe they were just in the northern area of CT (where I work). Either way, I had a great time wandering the area of the Founders Bridge in Hartford.
Great shots, Jeremy! You did Old Glory proud.
Thanks Gina! That’s one that has to be right 🙂
Not be cliche’ but … long may she wave.
Amen!
I like your blog. You have some cool photos on here! Great work! 😀
Renee
Thanks Renee! You have some great work, too!!
Love the symmetry in the second photo, and the blue sky in the other ones; that building is beautiful, and the compopsition in the last photo is qiute striking!
Thanks Pablo! You are always so encouraging! 🙂
Ok, there are no stupid questions, right? Clouds in my photos always tend to be blown out, over exposed. Do you take that into account when shooting? Any tips? These were gorgeous!
No stupid questions is right! We all learn when we ask questions :). I usually expose for the sky/clouds if they are important to my image. It is much easier to adjust the darker areas in Lightroom then to fix a blown out sky. I might slightly over expose the sky and drop the blue’s luminance if a significant portion is in shadow. Or I can try to shoot away from the sun so exposing for the sky works for the rest. Does that help? Try using a circular polarizer, too. It’s a huge help!
Thank you, Jeremy!
Thank you. Of course, since your response the skies here have been clear. Can’t wait for some clouds.
LOL, isn’t that the way it goes?
