Day 303 (30 Oct 2012) Hurricane Sandy

Hurricane Sandy hit hard Monday.  Wind gusts over 80mph.  Power lost.

The first shot is shot through a rain-pelted window.  I intentionally focused between the window and the trees.  The second is the same trees, but showing blur from the drops on that same window.  the last one is a longer exposure shot after the moon peaked out of the clouds for a moment.  The wind was still blowing well over 35mph, so everything is blurred.

I came out of the storm in good shape.  I lost power for 48 hours, and had no damage.  Only thing that happened is the roof blew off of my shed, but since it’s a module plastic shed, I can simply put it back on and snap it in place 🙂

Day 255 (12 Sep 2012) Bubbles!!

Today’s photos were fun and simple; simply a glass bowl full of soapy water, bubbles, my macro lens, and the sun shining through the window.  Of course using the straw to blow more/larger bubbles was the highlight 🙂  I may never grow up!  I think I saw something similar at one point on h2o by Joanna’s blog (she does all sorts of great work centered on the team of water).

Enjoy!

Day 16 (16 Jan 2012) All Stop

A friend & initial photography mentor and I decided to do photography challenges periodically, and for this week, he chose “red.”  I’ll get to choose the next challenge.

So today on my way home I was thinking what I could shoot that is red or has to do with red.  And as I was sitting at a traffic light, it dawned on me that the reason I wasn’t going anywhere is because the light is red!  It was a fairly long light, and the though came quickly, so I grabbed my camera and tried to capture a red light at night.  The shot I like best (or am least unimpressed by) is one that I took out of focus.  You can see the three stop lights and the brake lights of the car in front of me.  It would have probably turned out better had I parked and set up the camera on my tripod and took my time, but that will have to wait for another day.
